Three strategic B-52 Stratofortress bombers from the United States Air Force arrived at Morón Air Base, Spain, on November 8, marking the beginning of the first European deployment of the Bomber Task Force (BTF) for the new fiscal year.

The aircraft, belonging to the 2nd Bomb Wing from Barksdale, Louisiana, will use the base as an advanced hub for missions in regions such as Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. These operations include complex training in simulated high-threat environments and joint exercises with allies such as Finland, Lithuania, and Sweden.

During the Atlantic crossing, the B-52s conducted training interactions with allied fighters. Upon entering European airspace, the bombers were intercepted by Portuguese Air Force aircraft and later escorted by Spanish Eurofighter Typhoons in an air integration and coordination exercise. The moment was captured by aviation enthusiasts and the U.S. Air Force itself, resulting in striking images of the aircraft flying into the sunset over Spanish territory.

At the same time, the U.S. Air Force also deployed four B-1B Lancer bombers to Misawa Air Base in Japan, possibly under the same BTF 26-1 designation. The operation strengthens the American strategic presence in the Indo-Pacific and may include freedom of navigation missions in the South China Sea.

Despite limited official disclosure, local observers recorded flights of the B-1Bs, which are part of a broader U.S. effort to maintain readiness and demonstrate deterrent power across multiple global fronts.
